Organization:Sallie Mae

Annotation:This report depicts the average amounts and percent of total costs paid from each funding source that a “typical” family pays for college. The “typical” family is a composite representation produced mathematically from the results of the survey questions about how and how much respondents paid for college spread across all families. In its fourth year, the survey allows tracking of changes in amounts paid and funding choices over time. The study focuses on families of undergraduates ages 18- to 24. Each survey year, half of the population interviewed is enrolled 18- to 24-year-old undergraduates and half is the parents of enrolled 18- to 24-year-old undergraduates.
