Short Description:
Dual enrollment programs have proliferated, with exploding enrollment over the past decade. Many different policies have evolved for these partnerships, which give students the opportunity to take more rigorous courses while still in high school. Redesigning Dual Enrollment to Promote College Completion presents a snapshot of dual enrollment policies for each SREB member state: • Where do students earn credit? • Who pays tuition? • Who gets state funding: the high school or the college? • Who can offer the courses, and where do students take them? • Which students can enroll, and who teaches them? • Who monitors the programs for quality and rigor? This SREB Policy Brief lays out key issues states should consider to be sure students are successful and that dual enrollment is serving state career-and college-readiness goals.
