Annotation:With support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, this study from The Bridgespan Group analyzes different academic and social supports to determine which ones make the greatest difference in helping low-income youth prepare for and succeed in college. Some supports that were found to have a significant correlation with college matriculation include: expecting and taking a college-preparatory curriculum, believing that college is necessary for a desired career, friends' plans to go to college, college visits with parents, and applying for financial aid.
