Annotation:In this study, the author aims "to determine the effects of cultrally appropriate English, mathematics, and career development curriculum on American Indian sophomore and junior high school students' academic achievement in a five-week summer program called Nizhnoi Academy." The Nizhoni Academy is designed "to provide academic support services and direct instruction to eductionally disadvantaged secondary students attending rural high schools on or near the Navajo and Hopi reservations in northeastern Arizon and New Mexico." The report includes a literature review, a detailed overview of the study, and a discussion of the findings from the study.
