Annotation:Low-income students and students of color are disproportionately impacted by the sluggish nature of transfer bteween two- and four-year institutions because the majority of these students begin their postsecondary education in community colleges. This article introduces a novel way to view and measure community college student progress for those whose stated goal is transfer and ultimately bachelor's degree attainment. Using the metaphor of a game of baseball, the authors show how student progress at the community college level can be measured, comprehended, and visualized.
