Short Description:This article advocates enabling high-poverty students to attend better performing middle-class schools, allowing students to benefit from the educational environment at the better performing schools.
Annotation:This article advocates enabling students from schools with high concentrations of poverty to attend better performing middle-class schools, allowing the low-income students to benefit from the educational environment at the better performing schools, and benefitting higher income students by increasing racial and economic diversity at their schools. Such efforts have produced substantial results, with low-income and minority students at middle-income schools outperforming comparable students at high-poverty schools.
