Title:When girls don't graduate, we all fail
Source:http://www.nwlc.org/pdf/DropoutReport.pdf
Date:2007
Organization:National Womens Law Center
Short Description:This report evaluates current dropout rates for female students in the United States; the consequences of dropping out for female students; the factors that put students at risk of dropping out, with a focus on factors that may particularly affect female students; and recommendations for the future.
Annotation:While it has been widely reported that one in three boys, and nearly 50 percent or more of some racial and ethnic groups of boys, will fail to graduate from high school with a diploma in four years, girls too face a crisis in high school graduation rates. One in four girls overall do not finish high school, and the numbers are worse for girls of color. This report evaluates current dropout rates for female students in the United States; the consequences of dropping out for female students; the factors that put students at risk of dropping out, with a focus on factors that may particularly affect female students; and recommendations for the future.
