Annotation:
Lumina Foundation for Education has embraced a single, specific goal that will help the US address the economic and social trends clouding the nation's futue. Their “big goal” is to increase the percentage of Americans with high-quality degrees and credentials from 39 percent to 60 percent by the year 2025. To achieve this goal, the nation's community colleges must be bolstered to improve student retention and success and align programs with workforce demands, adult students must be targeted to receive support to ensure postsecondarys success, and higher education must establish a clear commitment to institutional success based on the success of their students. College affordability issues must also be addressed, including increases in need-based financial aid, and better data collection to ensure high rates of college productivity.
